O Shaughnessy's hat trick boosts Dorchester over Aylmer, 5-2

Brendon O Shaughnessy lifted the Dorchester Dolphins to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Aylmer Spitfires.

O Shaughnessy's first goal came 13:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:11 into the second and at 17:34 into the third.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Aylmer faces elimination next time out.

Dorchester pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

The Dolphins forced the Spitfires goalie Dan Black to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Dorchester's penalty kill managed to stymie Aylmer's power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down.

Dorchester also got points from Gus Ford, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chad Brulotte also scored for Dorchester. Other players who recorded assists for Dorchester were Patrick Freel and Tommy Prokes, who contributed one a piece and Shayne Rhyno and Tyler Blue, who each chipped in two.

The Spitfires kept the Dolphins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Colton James made 36 saves on 38 shots.

Aylmer was led by Clint Walker, who registered one goal. Walker scored on the power play 6:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aylmer. The Spitfires had gotten the advantage when Dorchester's Jordan Fuller was sent off for tripping. Adam Szwed assisted on the tally. Aylmer also got a goal from Jason Creces as well. More assists for Aylmer came via Cameron Mancini, Cody Underhill, and Brett Dzyngel, who contributed one a piece.

The Dolphins registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Dan Black made 43 saves for Aylmer on 48 shots. The Spitfires incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
