Dorchester blows out Aylmer, 5-1

The Dorchester Dolphins had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Aylmer Spitfires.

The win gave Dorchester a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Dolphins were led by goalie Craig Wood, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Wood will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

Dorchester was led by Gus Ford, who racked up one goal and one assist. Ford scored 10:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dorchester. Chad Brulotte assisted on the tally.

The Dolphins forced Aylmer goalie Dan Black to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Dorchester also got points from Brulotte, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brendon O Shaughnessy, who also had one goal and one assist. Dorchester also had goals scored by Shayne Rhyno and Cale Duberry, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Dorchester were Chris Buckholtz, Matt Cormier, Dylan Salter, Patrick Freel, and Bryan McCauley, who each chipped in one.

The Spitfires put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dorchester to score on any of its three power plays.

Aylmer was led by Clint Walker, who scored the team's only goal. Walker scored 2:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aylmer. Cody Underhill picked up the assist.

The Dolphins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Black recorded 33 saves for the Spitfires. Aylmer incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
