Ancaster rolls over Niagara Falls, 7-3Morgan Firestone Thu, Feb 06, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Falls Canucks had trouble finding ways to stop the Ancaster Avalanche, which beat Canucks, 7-3. Ancaster got the win on the strength of a great game by Ryan Lewis, who had two goals and one assist. Lewis scored the first of his two goals at 5:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster. Blake Luscombe assisted on the tally. Lewis' next tally made the score 5-0 Ancaster with 17:49 left in the second period. The Avalanche had taken the advantage when Niagara Falls' Tory McLean got sent off for slashing. Marcus Baird provided the assist. Ancaster outdid its season average for goals scored. The Avalanche average 3.7 goals per game. Ancaster also got points from Dustin Chenier, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Luscombe, who also had one goal and two assists, and Brett Farrelly, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ancaster included Eric Eustace and Cole Nagy, who each put in one. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Max Balinson, who had one, Spencer Leenders, who had two, and Luke Zupan, who had three. The Canucks were led by Johnny Curran, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Curran scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:43 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Ancaster. Niagara Falls had gotten the advantage when Ancaster's Harrison Domagala was sent off for tripping. McLean picked up the assist. Curran's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Ancaster with 1:40 left in the second period. Mitch McIntosh provided the assist. Niagara Falls additionally got points from McIntosh, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Cole Langan, who had one. Matt Calas recorded 26 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Zupan and Hayden Guitard were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Canucks' starting goalie, Dylan Pietrangelo, made eight saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tymen Edelkoort, who stopped six shots. Niagara Falls totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Canucks, Austin Wright and Billy Saxton were ejected from the contest.
