Penetang takes care of Midland early, wins 12-2

The Penetang Kings jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Midland Flyers, 12-2.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Midland faces elimination next time out.

Matt Meher had one goal and three assists to lead Penetang. Meher scored 15:47 into the first period to make the score 4-0 Penetang. Matt Fischer assisted on the tally.

The Kings' offense rang up 44 shots on the Flyers' net. Penetang was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances. The Kings' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Penetang additionally got points from Jack Scanlan, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Nate Archer, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jordan Schwartz, who also registered one goal and one assist, Fischer, who also had one goal and two assists, Craig Robinson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ryan Young, who also had two goals and one assist, Mac Flewelling, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Michael Paul, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Penetang included Hayden Cole and Graham Haley, who each put in one. More assists for Penetang came via Ryan Shaw, who had two and Kyle Burns, Mackenzie Bumstead, Myles York, and Tyler Marchand, who each chipped in one.

Midland was led by Bruce Brown, who finished with two goals. Brown scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:06 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Penetang. The Flyers earned a power play opportunity when Haley was put in the box for interference. Brown's next tally on the power play made the score 6-2 Penetang with 6:20 left in the second period.

Adam Redgate rejected 13 shots on goal for Penetang. The Kings ended with 41 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major. Penetang ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Austin Fischer was ejected from the game. Marco Colangelo recorded 32 saves for Midland. The Flyers incurred 62 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors. For Midland, Cam Russell was ejected from the game.
