The Penetang Kings had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 11-3 win over the Midland Flyers. The win gave Penetang a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Kings got the win behind a great game by Ryan Shaw, who had two goals and one assist. Shaw scored the first of his two goals at 6:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Penetang. Craig Robinson assisted on the tally. Shaw's next tally made the score 6-2 Penetang with 9:45 left in the second period. Hayden Cole picked up the assist. Penetang kept Midland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marco Colangelo made 43 saves on 54 shots. Penetang additionally got points from Matt Meher, who also registered one goal and two assists and Robinson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Penetang included Matt Fischer and Myles York, who scored two goals each and Jack Scanlan, Jordan Schwartz, and Austin Fischer, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Kyle Burns, Brayden Laurin, and Adam Redgate, who each chipped in one and Ryan Young and Michael Paul, who contributed two a piece. The Kings' Redgate stopped 15 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Penetang incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Flyers incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
