Erin hangs on, beats Stayner 4-2

Josh Tremblay gave the Erin Shamrocks the lead in the first period, and the Stayner Siskins was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

A goal 12:05 into the the first period by Tremblay proved to be the game winner, and powered Erin to the victory Patrick Reay assisted on the tally.

The win by the Shamrocks broke a deadlock and gave Erin a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

The Shamrocks were sparked by Connor Mortimer, who registered one goal. Mortimer scored 8:56 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Erin. Adam Gibson provided the assist.

Erin made Siskins' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 38 shots and forcing 34 saves. Allan Menary APM made three stops and Aaron Taylor made 31. The Shamrocks' power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities.

Erin also had goals scored by Mike Nicolucci and Cosimo Morin, who each put in one. In addition, Erin received assists from Josh Sguigna and Chris Grenier, who contributed one a piece.

Stayner stifled Erin's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Siskins were helped by Derick Robertson, who tallied one goal. Robertson scored on the power play 9:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Erin. Stayner had gained a power play chance when Mortimer was whistled for cross checking. Ricky Darrell picked up the assist. Brendan Skidmore also scored for Stayner. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Jesse Anderson, who had one.

Tom Denstedt made 26 saves for the Shamrocks on 28 shots. Erin incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Siskins incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
