Erin completes comeback, beats Stayner, 3-2

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Erin Shamrocks battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Stayner Siskins.

Erin never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Shamrocks trailed 2-0 after a goal by Stayner's Quinton Bruce at 4:33 in the second period. Erin knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Adam Gibson at 11:26 in the second period. The Shamrocks scored the game winner at 18:50 in the second period on a goal by Gibson.

With the win, Erin evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Tyler Topham was all over the ice for the Shamrocks, as he had two goals in the win.

Erin excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Shamrocks' offense rang up 41 shots on the Siskins' net.

More assists for Erin came via Mario DAcunto, Mike Nicolucci, Josh Sguigna, Travis Knight, and Chris Grenier, who contributed one a piece.

Stayner forced Erin goalie Tom Denstedt to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Siskins were helped by Ricky Darrell, who registered one goal. Darrell scored 11:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stayner. Brandon Watson assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Cooper Martin, Sean Healy, and Brett Gauthier, who each chipped in one.

Tom Denstedt made 32 saves for the Shamrocks on 34 shots. Erin incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Aaron Taylor rejected 38 shots on goal for Stayner. The Siskins incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Stayner, Corey DeRose was ejected from the game.
