Napanee rolls over Deseronto, 11-1Deseronto & District CC Sat, Feb 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Napanee Raiders had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 11-1 win over the Deseronto Storm. Napanee got the win thanks to a great game by Zach Knapp-Hermer, who had one goal and two assists. Knapp-Hermer scored 12:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Napanee. Ryan Casselman picked up the assist. The Raiders were led by goalie Kyle Copeland, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Copeland will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.67. Napanee forced Deseronto goalie Liam Smith APM to work between the pipes, taking 77 shots. The Raiders' goal total was higher than their season average. Napanee averages 4.5 goals per game. Napanee also got points from Kyle Murphy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tyler Romain, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Austin Boulard, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Will Peirson, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Chad McCutcheon, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Napanee included Mitch Pearce, who had two and Evan Brown and Jordan Cannons, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Chris Doyle and Troy Wylie, who each chipped in one and Pascal DiRocco and Keenan Murray, who contributed two a piece. The Raiders were unable to stop the Storm from sending pucks towards the net, and Deseronto eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Napanee incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Liam Smith APM made 66 saves for the Storm on 77 shots. Deseronto incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
