Elliott strong in net as Fergus tops Huntsville, 7-1

Although the Huntsville Otters peppered Alex Elliott with 31, stymied and fell to the Fergus Devils, 7-1.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Huntsville faces elimination next time out.

Fergus pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 38 penalty minutes.

The Devils were led by Robert Ebach, who racked up one goal and one assist. Ebach scored on the power play 2:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fergus. Griffin Heitshu assisted on the tally.

Fergus made Otters' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Connor Christianson made 34 stops and TJ Sherwood made nine. The Devils managed to hold the Otters' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. Fergus got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Fergus additionally got points from Heitshu, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Mackenzie Cleveland, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Fergus included Cole Bradley, Cody Gresswell, and James Murray, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fergus were Patrick Snell, who had two and Mikael Ruffini, Luke Reinhart, and Ryan Lavrench, who contributed one a piece.

Huntsville also got a goal from Jake McIntyre as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Trayvon Henry and Evan Wilding, who each chipped in one.

Alex Elliott took the win and made 23 saves before being replaced by Parker Merkley who made seven saves. The Devils registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. Huntsville ended with 50 minutes in penalty time with 15 minors and two majors. Team's Myles Bissonette and Justin House were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
