Ewart, Schomberg blank Caledon, 7-0

Taylor Ewart recorded a shutout against the Caledon Golden Hawks as the Schomberg Cougars picked up a 7-0 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Caledon faces elimination next time out.

Schomberg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 34 penalty minutes.

The Cougars made Golden Hawks' goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Chris Vellucci made 21 stops and Eric Pitcher made 13. Schomberg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 11 Caledon power plays.

The Cougars were helped by Kiefer McIntosh, who grabbed one goal. McIntosh scored 2:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Schomberg. Arran Macdonald picked up the assist. Schomberg additionally got points from Macdonald, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Schomberg also got a goal from Colton Wood as well. In addition, Schomberg received assists from John Gage, who had three and Christian Muenz, Blake Culley, Brandon Yorke, and Derek Neilly, who contributed one a piece.

The Golden Hawks kept Schomberg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ewart made 33 saves on 33 shots.

The Cougars registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. Caledon incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Team's Steve Zeppieri and James Pitsadiotas were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
