Lambeth squeaks by Port Stanley, 6-4

The game between the Lambeth Lancers and the Port Stanley Sailors was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lambeth emerged with a 6-4 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Mike Golinowski's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Lancers were sparked by Riley Gilmore, who grabbed one goal. Gilmore scored 3:24 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Lambeth. Matt Schurr picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Port Stanley was paced by Tyler Beaulieu, who tallied two goals and one assist. Beaulieu scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:32 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Gilmore had put the Sailors on the power play. Beaulieu's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Lambeth with 12:16 left in the third period. Port Stanley earned a power play opportunity when Golinowski was put in the box for hooking. Mark Brisson provided the assist.

Lambeth forced the Sailors goalie Ricky Corkum to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Lambeth additionally got points from Golinowski, who also had one goal and one assist and Warren Hargraves, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Lambeth also had goals scored by Josh Bumpus, Tanner Smith, and Mitch Thomas, who each put in one. In addition, Lambeth received assists from Kale Corbeth, who had one and Nick Griffin, who had two.

The Lancers were unable to stop Port Stanley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sailors eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Port Stanley included Zachary Zinga and Tyson Corkum, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Stanley came via Dalton Good, Anders Adzija, and Findley Brandon, who each chipped in one.

JP Trudell made 35 saves for Lambeth on 39 shots. The Lancers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Corkum rejected 41 shots on goal for Port Stanley. The Sailors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Port Stanley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Reda was ejected from the game.
