xTrenton beats Lindsay 5-0 as Dubblestyne gains shutout

The xTrenton Golden Hawks used a sparkling performance by Denny Dubblestyne to take down the Lindsay Muskies, as the netminder did not allow a goal in xTrenton's 5-0 shutout victory.

Lindsay's power play was ineffective against the Golden Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

xTrenton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Muskies to score on any of their 10 power plays. The Golden Hawks' defensive play was more effective than usual against Lindsay. xTrenton averages 2.9 goals allowed per game. The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 34 shots on the Muskies' net. xTrenton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Bobby Polachek, who racked up one goal. Polachek scored short handed 13:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xTrenton. xTrenton was on a disadvantage when Brett Seldon went off the ice for kneeing. xTrenton additionally got points from Mathew Thompson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Dylan Savory, who also tallied one goal and one assist. xTrenton also had goals scored by Tyler Donaldson and Brady Wiffen, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for xTrenton were Tyler Mayea, Danny Liscio, and Hunter Fargey, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Muskies put an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. Lindsay's penalty kill unit could not stop the Golden Hawks' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

Denny Dubblestyne made 26 saves for xTrenton on 26 shots. For the Golden Hawks, Mayea was ejected from the game. Branden Francey rejected 29 shots on goal for the Muskies. Lindsay incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
