Benilde-St. Margarets falls to Eden Prairie in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Michael Graham gave the Eden Prairie Eagles a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Benilde-St. Margarets Red Knights when he scored 2:14 into the extra period.

Eden Prairie got the win behind a great game by Steven Spinner, who had two goals and three assists. Spinner scored the first of his two goals at 15:46 into the second period to make the score 4-4. Graham picked up the assist. Spinner's next tally made the score 5-5 with 10:00 left in the third period. Marc Sullivan provided the assist.

The Eagles managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Eden Prairie ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Eagles bested their season scoring average. Eden Prairie has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 52 shots on goal, the Eagles exceeded the 33.3 shots they average per game this year.

Eden Prairie additionally got points from Graham, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Eden Prairie included Luc Snuggerud and Harry Pajor, who scored one goal each. More assists for Eden Prairie came via Riley Argetsinger, who had one and Brady Schoo, who had two.

Eden Prairie was unable to stop Benilde-St. Margarets from sending pucks towards the net, and the Red Knights eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Benilde-St. Margarets was helped by Carter Roo, who tallied two goals and one assist. Roo scored the first of his two goals at 9:58 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Spencer Naas picked up the assist. Roo's next tally made the score 4-3 Benilde-St. Margarets with 7:10 left in the second period. Naas provided the assist. Benilde-St. Margarets also got points from Naas, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Benilde-St. Margarets also had goals scored by Zack Hale and Mark Kaske, who each put in one. In addition, Benilde-St. Margarets received assists from Evan Fleming, who had one and Ben Newhouse and Chase Jungels, who each chipped in two.

Jake Gerdes rejected 28 shots on goal for the Eagles. Eden Prairie registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Red Knights' Jalen Long stopped 46 shots out of the 52 that he faced. Benilde-St. Margarets totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
