Greer's big game bests Amherstview in 7-2 Picton win

The Picton Pirates' Evan Greer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 7-2 win over the Amherstview Jets.

Greer scored at 51 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Picton and again while 2:34 into the second to make the score 3-0 Picton.

Picton forced Amherstview goalie James DAndrea to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Pirates was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Picton was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Picton additionally got points from Brian Bunnett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Taylor Brown, who also finished with three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Ryan Sizer, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Picton received assists from Chris Jones, who had two and Steven Clarke and Brandon Peever, who each chipped in one.

The Jets kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Wood made 31 saves on 33 shots.

DAndrea rejected 32 shots on goal for Amherstview. The Jets totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Amherstview, Dustin Kennedy was ejected from the game.
