Pickering erases deficit to stun St. Michaels, 4-3

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Pickering Panthers battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the St. Michaels Buzzers.

Pickering let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Panthers took a 3-2 advantage on a power play goal by Michael Giacometti at 12:42 in the second period. Pickering found itself down 2-0 after St. Michaels' CJ Shugart put the puck home at 3:33 in the second period. After tying things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Ian Edmondson at 13:56 in the second, the Panthers got the game-winner from Keegan Ackerland at 14:19 in the second period.

Pickering was sparked by Ackerland, who racked up one goal and one assist.

The Panthers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Pickering also had goals scored by Matteo Condotta and Doug Carter, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Nicholas Lepone, who had two and Cam Palmer, Chris Sekelyk, Michael Walker, Riley Devine, and Mike Nedoszytko, who contributed one a piece.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Buzzers were helped by Mike Lansdowne, who had one goal. Lansdowne scored 12:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. Thomas Beretta assisted on the tally. St. Michaels also got points from Shugart, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Ashur Elliot, Joseph Berton, and Angelpooulos Peter, who each chipped in one.

Steven Dombrosky made 25 saves for Pickering on 28 shots. The Panthers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. George Argiropoulos rejected 21 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
