Buonincontri nets hat trick, leads Smiths Falls to 3-2 win over PembrokePembroke Memorial Center Wed, Feb 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Michael Buonincontri was the highlight in Bears' 3-2 win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Buonincontri got on the scoresheet 12:38 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:58 into the second and at 5:27 into the third.The Smiths Falls Bears put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pembroke to score on any of its five power plays. Smiths Falls' offense rang up 33 shots on the Lumber Kings' net. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Victor Beaulac, who had two and Chris MacMillan, Brandon Lesway, Taylor Henry, and Stefano Momesso, who each chipped in one. Pembroke was helped by Kyle Shaw, who registered one goal. Shaw scored 11:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Lucas Gonu provided the assist. Pembroke additionally got points from Gonu, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Dylan Staples, who had one. The Bears' starting goalie, Cory Simic, made 25 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Michael Pinios, who stopped zero shots. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Darren Smith made 30 saves for the Lumber Kings on 33 shots. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
