Smiths Falls downs Pembroke, 3-0

Michael Buonincontri tallied two points to lead the Smiths Falls Bears to a 3-0 victory over the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Smiths Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pembroke to score on any of its three power plays. The Bears' defense was surprisingly good. Smiths Falls allows 2.7 goals per game. The Lumber Kings were unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Neil Doef and Victor Beaulac, who scored one goal each. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Stefano Momesso, who had two and Brandon Lesway and Nic Marchand, who contributed one a piece.

Pembroke was held below its usual level of production. The Lumber Kings put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Pembroke could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Cory Simic recorded 22 saves for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Lumber Kings' Darren Smith stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced.
