Brian Bunnett had two goals to lead the Picton Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the Port Hope Panthers. Bunnett scored on the power play at 19:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 2:19 into the third to make the score 2-1 Picton.Picton was led by goalie Adam Wood, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Wood will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.7 entering the contest. Port Hope's power play was ineffective against the Pirates' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Picton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Panthers to score on any of their six power plays. The Pirates' offense rang up 33 shots on Port Hope's net. Others who scored for Picton included Devin McCann and Chris Jones, who each put in one. In addition, Picton received assists from Kenny Murduff, who had two and Steven Clarke, Nolan Van Vlack, and Corey Prince, who contributed one a piece. The Panthers were held below their usual level of production. Port Hope averages 3.7 goals per game. The Panthers were led by Tyler Davey, who scored the team's only goal. Davey scored 16:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Brandon Durst assisted on the tally. Picton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Branson Schell rejected 29 shots on goal for Port Hope. The Panthers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
