Kemptville uses shootout to best Cumberland, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kemptville 73s defeated the Cumberland Grads in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.

Kemptville forced Cumberland goalie Kevin Gollmer to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The 73s were helped by Justin Haasbeek, who grabbed one goal. Haasbeek scored 7:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville. Daniele Disipio provided the assist. Kemptville also got a goal from Dean Galasso as well. More assists for Kemptville came via Cody Hendsbee, Jesse Blais, and Hayden Hanson, who contributed one a piece.

The Grads' offense rang up 37 shots on Kemptville's net.

Cumberland was helped by Maxime St.Pierre, who registered one goal. St.Pierre scored on the power play 17:31 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Grads had taken the advantage when the 73s' Aaron Hickie got sent off for too many men. Matthew Morin assisted on the tally. Cumberland additionally got points from Morin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Bobby Williams, Martin Frechette, and Matt Allan, who each chipped in one.

Matt Couvrette recorded 35 saves for Kemptville. The 73s incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Cumberland's Gollmer stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
