Cambridge rides Machalski to victory over Brampton, 3-1

The Cambridge Winter Hawks relied on the sparkling performance of Lucas Machalski in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Brampton Bombers.

Cambridge was led by Adam Dauda, who had one goal. Dauda scored 17:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cambridge. Tyler Peters assisted on the tally.

The Winter Hawks stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cambridge additionally got points from Matt Pinder, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Maxime Lamontagne also scored for Cambridge. More assists for Cambridge came via Marcellis Subban, who had two and Alex Bottigoni and Hudson Michaelis, who each chipped in one.

The Bombers forced Cambridge goalie Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Brampton was led by Brandon Stapley, who scored the team's only goal. Stapley scored 3:20 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Greg Wilson provided the assist.

Machalski recorded 30 saves for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bombers' Scott Patton stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Brampton incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
