Idaho Junior Steelheads hangs on, beats Lake Tahoe Blue 3-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads beat Lake Tahoe Blue, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Idaho Junior Steelheads took over the lead for good with a goal by Kyle Williams at 3:20 in the first period. Victor Carlsson picked up the assist.

Ben Hull had one goal and two assists to lead Idaho Junior Steelheads. Hull scored on the power play 8:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Idaho Junior Steelheads earned a power play opportunity when Mattia Bortolotto was put in the box for boarding. Philip Wong assisted on the tally.

Idaho Junior Steelheads put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lake Tahoe Blue to score on any of its five power plays. Idaho Junior Steelheads' offense rang up 33 shots on Lake Tahoe Blue's net.

Idaho Junior Steelheads also got a goal from Bryan Hodges as well. In addition, Idaho Junior Steelheads received assists from Dak Dice, who had one.

Lake Tahoe Blue could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Lake Tahoe Blue averages 4.3 goals per game.

Lake Tahoe Blue was led by Nick Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored 19:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Edgars Homjakovs picked up the assist.

Danny Kowalski made 22 saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads on 23 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jakub Novotny recorded 30 saves for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
