Tulsa Jr. Oilers falls apart in second, loses to xTexas, 7-1

Tulsa Jr. Oilers was within striking distance after one period, but xTexas put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-1 victory.

Landyn Howze was all over the ice for xTexas, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Howze scored 2:07 into the second period to make the score 2-0 xTexas. Miguel Caron picked up the assist.

xTexas was led by goalie Ryan Mulka, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Mulka will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.24.

xTexas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tulsa Jr. Oilers to score on any of its seven power plays. xTexas kept Tulsa Jr. Oilers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Teke Murphy made 54 saves on 61 shots. xTexas found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. xTexas averages 4.3 goals per game. xTexas could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

xTexas also got points from Caron, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Tobias Sjolund, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for xTexas included Seth Ensor, who had two and Viktor Brask and Sebastien Tremblay, who each put in one. In addition, xTexas received assists from Jeremy Quinneville and Dalton Foster, who each chipped in one and Austin Murray and Collin Young, who contributed two a piece.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Tulsa Jr. Oilers, Marty Magers was ejected from the game.
