Cam Fergus finished with two points to lead the Clarenville Caribous to a 5-2 victory over the Kenora Thistles. Clarenville stifled Kenora's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of the Caribous were also effective in the Thistles' zone, and came away with three goals. Clarenville additionally got points from Luke Gallant, who also had one goal and one assist and Rodi Short, who also registered one goal and one assist. Clarenville also had goals scored by Ryan Desrosiers and Martain Lapointe, who scored one goal each. More assists for Clarenville came via Peter Campbell, who had two and Doug O Brien and Mitch Oake, who contributed one each. Kenora was helped by Ryan Pearson, who racked up one goal. Pearson scored 4:13 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Sean McAslan picked up the assist. TJ Sakaluk also scored for Kenora. In addition, Kenora received assists from Matt Miller, Jeff Richards, and Dan MacIntyre, who each chipped in one. Clarenville's starting goalie, Jason Churchill, made 25 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of AJ Whiffen, who stopped two shots. The Caribous incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tyler Gordon recorded 19 saves for the Thistles. Kenora incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
