Cleveland Barons (MM) uses shootout to best Thunder AAA Hockey (MM), 3-2 (4-3 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Cleveland Barons (MM) defeated Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) in a shootout 3-2 (4-3 SO).

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) got shootout goals from Mitch Fossier, Phillip Zbell, and Luc Soares. In addition to the clincher, Cleveland Barons (MM) got shootout goals from Scott Donahue, Michael Sauer, and Austin Kamer.

Cleveland Barons (MM) overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Cleveland Barons (MM) trailed 2-1 after a goal by Thunder AAA Hockey (MM)'s Drew Holcombe at 12:13 in the second period. Cleveland Barons (MM) tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by William Harrison at 15:29 in the second period.

Harrison was all over the ice for Cleveland Barons (MM), as he registered two goals in the win.

Cleveland Barons (MM)'s offense rang up 41 shots on Thunder AAA Hockey (MM)'s net.

More assists for Cleveland Barons (MM) came via Paul McAvoy and Grant Meyer, who each chipped in one.

Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) forced Cleveland Barons (MM) goalie Andrew Lee to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The defensemen of Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) were also effective in Cleveland Barons (MM)'s zone, and came away with two goals.

Mitchell Foster also scored for Thunder AAA Hockey (MM). In addition, Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) received assists from Austin Beaulieu, who had two and Cody Thomas and Zbell, who contributed one a piece.

Lee rejected 29 shots on goal for Cleveland Barons (MM). Cleveland Barons (MM) incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nicholas Anderson made 38 saves for Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) on 40 shots. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
