WHITBY squeaks by OAKVILLE, 4-2

WHITBY and OAKVILLE were evenly matched throughout their contest, but WHITBY made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cassidy Vinkle secured the win for WHITBY with a goal in the third period.

WHITBY was led by Vinkle, who registered one goal. Vinkle scored 6:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 WHITBY. Katelyn Rae assisted on the tally.

WHITBY managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. WHITBY ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. OAKVILLE was unable to stop WHITBY from sending pucks towards the net, and WHITBY eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

WHITBY also got points from Megan Sullivan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for WHITBY included Madison Badeau and Jamie Grigsby (PU), who scored one goal each. In addition, WHITBY received assists from Kirsten Welsh, Jamie Fox (PU), Alana Sims (PU), and Lauren Williams, who contributed one a piece.

OAKVILLE was helped by Cassidy MacPherson (PU), who tallied one goal. MacPherson (PU) scored 5:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 WHITBY. Kirsten Miller provided the assist. OAKVILLE additionally got points from Jennifer MacAskill, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for OAKVILLE came via Jacinta Kennedy and Jamie Watson, who each chipped in one.

Hannah Baker made nine saves before being replaced by Kassidy Sauve, who took the win and made seven saves. WHITBY registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Daniela Paniccia recorded 35 saves for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
