Uxbridge blows out Georgina, 5-1Georgina Ice Palace Sat, Jan 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins were firing on all cylinders against the Georgina Ice, and when the final buzzer sounded Bruins emerged with a 5-1 win. Uxbridge got the win on the strength of a great game by Tim Bierema, who had one goal and two assists. Bierema scored short handed 15:34 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Uxbridge. A holding call on Connor Miller put the Bruins on the penalty kill. Thomas Sheedy assisted on the tally. Uxbridge's offense rang up 37 shots on Georgina's net. The Bruins struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 50 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays. Uxbridge also got points from Korey Brand, who also registered one goal and two assists and Matthew Allen, who also had one goal and one assist. Uxbridge also had goals scored by Connor Beck and Tyson Eastgate, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Jason Simmonds, who had one. The Ice put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Uxbridge to score on any of its six power plays. Georgina could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 52 minutes in penalties during the game. Cody Northover recorded 18 saves for the Bruins. Tyler Richardson made 32 saves for the Ice on 37 shots. Georgina ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Brown was ejected from the game.
