Sydney Wolf Pack vanquishes Sydney Sabres in shootout, 4-3 (3-1 SO)

Alec Stephenson scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Sydney Wolf Pack picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (3-1 SO) win over Sydney Sabres.

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout. Sydney Sabres' shootout goal was scored by Hayden Sheard. Sydney Wolf Pack's other shootout goals were scored by Scott Clemie and Stephenson.

Sydney Wolf Pack overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Sydney Wolf Pack was down 3-1 after a goal by Sydney Sabres' Casey Kubara at 10:18 in the second period. Sydney Wolf Pack tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Clemie at 11:12 in the third period.

Sydney Wolf Pack stifled Sydney Sabres' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Sydney Wolf Pack put 18 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.5 it averages per game.

Sydney Wolf Pack was helped by Tyler Kubara, who tallied one goal. Kubara scored on the power play 6:30 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sydney Sabres. A hooking penalty on Alex Olencewicz had put Sydney Wolf Pack on the power play. Stephenson provided the assist. Cian OReilly also scored for Sydney Wolf Pack. In addition, Sydney Wolf Pack received assists from Jackson Knight, who had one.

By firing 19 shots on goal, Sydney Sabres exceeded the 2.5 shots it averages per game this year. Sydney Sabres struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Sydney Wolf Pack to score two power play goals on three chances.

More assists for Sydney Sabres came via Ilman Lee, Daniel Pataky, and Zhan Wardlaw, who each chipped in one.

Harley Quinton-Jones rejected 16 shots on goal for Sydney Wolf Pack. Sydney Wolf Pack ended with 39 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Sydney Wolf Pack ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jarrod Smith was ejected from the game. Jonathan Hughes recorded 14 saves for Sydney Sabres.
