Fredonia State University stifles University at Albany's comeback, gains 4-3 victory

Fredonia State University came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the University at Albany Great Danes, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory.

Fredonia State University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Fredonia State University's Dan Lore's scored at 16:12 in the first period to put Fredonia State University up 3-0.

Fredonia State University was led by Donnie Battista, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Battista scored 18:51 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Fredonia State University. Matt Casillo provided the assist.

Jim Kane also scored for Fredonia State University. In addition, Fredonia State University received assists from Brian McFarlane and Mike McFarlane, who contributed one a piece.

University at Albany put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fredonia State University to score on any of its five power plays. The Great Danes forced Fredonia State University goalie Ryan Sullivan to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

University at Albany was helped by AJ Lemacchia, who racked up one goal. Lemacchia scored 10:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fredonia State University. Dave Defranco picked up the assist. University at Albany additionally got points from Robert Campbell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. University at Albany also got a goal from Marc Lamoreaux as well. More assists for University at Albany came via Mike Defranco, who had one and Ryan Phillips, who had two.

Ryan Sullivan made 31 saves for Fredonia State University on 34 shots. Richard Gullo rejected 24 shots on goal for the Great Danes. University at Albany incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
