Adelaide Adrenaline survives Sydney Sirens comeback, wins 2-1

Sydney Sirens tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Adelaide Adrenaline held on for a 2-1 victory.

A goal by Bethanie Kavanagh put Adelaide Adrenaline up 2-0 in the third period, but Sydney Sirens pulled to within one on Stephanie Cochrane's tally 15:29 into the third period.

Adelaide Adrenaline was led by goalie Michelle Coonan, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Coonan will actually see her goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.18 entering the contest.

Adelaide Adrenaline stifled Sydney Sirens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 31 shots on target during the contest, Adelaide Adrenaline exceeded the 2.5 shots it averages per game this year. Adelaide Adrenaline was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes.

Adelaide Adrenaline also got a goal from Gabriel Aston as well. Other players who recorded assists for Adelaide Adrenaline were Diana Glass, who had one.

Sydney Sirens' offense rang up 37 shots on Adelaide Adrenaline's net. Sydney Sirens struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

More assists for Sydney Sirens came via Kaylee White, who had one.

Alex Stefan made 29 saves for Sydney Sirens on 31 shots. Sydney Sirens registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities.
