Green's big game bests Sydney Sirens in 5-2 Melbourne Ice win

Melbourne Ice's Shona Green had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in her team's 5-2 win over Sydney Sirens.

Green scored on the power play at 11:04 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Melbourne Ice and again while short handed 2:32 into the second to make the score 3-0 Melbourne Ice.

Melbourne Ice forced Sydney Sirens goalie Sera Dogramaci to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Others who scored for Melbourne Ice included Olivia Dawson, Kristelle Vanderwolf, and Rylie Padjen, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Melbourne Ice were Lucy Parrington, who had two and Maia Smith-Merovitz and Lindsay Audia, who contributed one a piece.

Sydney Sirens' offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.8 shot per game it averages.

Sydney Sirens was led by Kath McOnie, who registered one goal and one assist. McOnie scored 42 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-1 Melbourne Ice. Sharna Godfrey picked up the assist. Sydney Sirens also got a goal from Amelia Matheson as well. In addition, Sydney Sirens received assists from Kaylee White, who had one.

Melbourne Ice's Jodie Walker stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that she faced. Melbourne Ice incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dogramaci recorded 28 saves for Sydney Sirens. Sydney Sirens incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
