Adelaide Adrenaline uses shootout to best Sydney Sirens, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Adelaide Adrenaline defeated Sydney Sirens in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Sydney Sirens got a shootout goal from Sara Edmonds. Adelaide Adrenaline also got a shootout goal from Kate Tihema.

Adelaide Adrenaline saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Adelaide Adrenaline made the score 3-1 on a goal by Tihema at 8:09 in the third period. Sydney Sirens evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Edmonds at 13:14 in the third period.

Adelaide Adrenaline excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. With 43 shots on target during the contest, Adelaide Adrenaline exceeded the 3.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Sari Lehmann also scored for Adelaide Adrenaline. More assists for Adelaide Adrenaline came via Taylor Botterill, who had one and Bethanie Kavanagh and Kirsty Venus, who contributed two a piece.

Sydney Sirens stifled Adelaide Adrenaline's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 28 shots that Sydney Sirens put on net surpassed Sydney Sirens' average of 3.0 shots per game this season.

Sydney Sirens was led by Amelia Matheson, who had two goals. Matheson scored the first of her two goals at 15:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Adelaide Adrenaline. Matheson's next tally made the score 3-2 Adelaide Adrenaline with 8:35 left in the third period. Kath McOnie provided the assist. In addition, Sydney Sirens received assists from Sharna Godfrey, who had one.

Jo Phillis recorded 25 saves for Adelaide Adrenaline. Adelaide Adrenaline incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Sera Dogramaci made 39 saves for Sydney Sirens on 42 shots. Sydney Sirens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
