Huge game by Audia boosts Melbourne Ice over Brisbane Goannas, 8-1

Behind a great game by Lindsay Audia, who had one goal and four assists, Melbourne Ice defeated Brisbane Goannas, 8-1.

Audia got on the board by slotting home a goal 17 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Melbourne Ice. Christine Cockerell picked up the assist. Audia dished an assist on Emily Teed's goal that made the score 3-1 Melbourne Ice at 15:02 into the first period. He then added assists on Lucy Parrington's goal at 4:45 into the third, on Maia Smith-Merovitz's goal at 12:25 into the third, and on Parrington's goal at 13:58 into the third.

Melbourne Ice was led by goalie Elizabeth Knox, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Knox will actually see her goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.18 entering the contest.

Melbourne Ice's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Brisbane Goannas power plays. By firing 25 shots on goal, Melbourne Ice exceeded the 8.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Melbourne Ice also got points from Smith-Merovitz, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Parrington, who also registered three goals and one assist. Melbourne Ice also got a goal from Shona Green as well. Other players who recorded assists for Melbourne Ice were Sarah Teed, who had one.

Brisbane Goannas forced Melbourne Ice goalie Knox to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Brisbane Goannas was led by Hannah Westbrook, who scored the team's only goal. Westbrook scored 9:41 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Melbourne Ice. Brittany Parkyn provided the assist.

Melbourne Ice incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Keesha Atkins rejected 17 shots on goal for Brisbane Goannas. Brisbane Goannas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
