The Alexandria Blizzard could not stop the North Iowa Bulls' Timothy Santopoalo, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.

Santopoalo got on the scoresheet 7:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:36 into the second and at 11:20 into the third.

North Iowa excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

North Iowa additionally got points from Richie Marenis, who also registered one goal and three assists. Logan Murphy also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Andrew Halama, who had one and Ron Lindgren and Matt Kroska, who contributed two a piece.

Alexandria racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 30.0 minutes per game the Blizzard had been spending in the box. Alexandria could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Blizzard average 4.6 goals per game.

Alexandria was led by Mick Dhein, who tallied two goals. Dhein scored the first of his two goals at 6:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alexandria. Gavin Mindt assisted on the tally. Dhein's next tally made the score 3-2 North Iowa with 7:13 left in the second period. Joe Anderson picked up the assist. More assists for Alexandria came via Jake Maxson, who had one.

Chris Amsden recorded 28 saves for the Bulls. North Iowa totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-10 on the power play. The Blizzard's Tanner Elmore stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced.
