University at Albany stifles Binghamton's comeback, gains 4-2 victoryIceLine Rink 1 Sat, Oct 12, 2013 The University at Albany Great Danes, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by University at Albany and clinched a 4-2 victory. The Great Danes led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when University at Albany's Ryan Phillips's scored at 18:06 in the second period to put the Great Danes up 3-0. Dave Defranco had two goals and one assist to lead University at Albany. Defranco scored the first of his two goals at 7:27 into the second period to make the score 2-0 University at Albany. Mike Defranco provided the assist. Defranco's next tally made the score 4-2 University at Albany with 6:18 left in the third period. Sean Duffy assisted on the tally. The Great Danes' penalty kill excelled, as University at Albany gave up zero goals despite allowing 11 power plays. The Great Danes stifled Binghamton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Binghamton was unable to stop University at Albany from sending pucks towards the net, and the Great Danes eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. University at Albany could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Jacy Karpovage also scored for University at Albany. In addition, University at Albany received assists from Marc Lamoreaux, Gavin Grogan, and Taylor Creazzo, who contributed one a piece. Binghamton was helped by David Dvorak, who grabbed one goal. Dvorak scored 7:48 into the third period to make the score 3-1 University at Albany. Binghamton also got a goal from Nick Catrone as well. Justin Halman rejected 26 shots on goal for the Great Danes. University at Albany registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Jarrod Blackford made 31 saves for Binghamton on 35 shots.
