Curran leads GHC Prospects over Brantford, 5-2

GHC Prospects' Johnny Curran had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Curran's tallies came at 1:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 GHC Prospects and 16:05 into the third to make the score 5-2 GHC Prospects.

Brantford's power play was ineffective against GHC Prospects' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

GHC Prospects excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 12 chances. GHC Prospects' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as GHC Prospects finished with 30 penalty minutes. GHC Prospects got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

GHC Prospects additionally got points from Brett Brooker, who also registered one goal and one assist. John Dilorenzo also scored for GHC Prospects. Other players who recorded assists for GHC Prospects were Kevin Guzzo, who had two and Ryan Sarris, Colin Farrell, Jessie Pereira, and Michael Faliero, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers were led by Mitch Atkins, who finished with one goal and one assist. Atkins scored 2:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nathan Bastian picked up the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Guy Polillo as well. More assists for Brantford came via Mitch Camacho, who had one.

GHC Prospects took out Marcus Hlywka after he had made 12 saves and installed Curtis D Ortenzo in goal, where he finished with 11 saves and the win. GHC Prospects registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Marcus Del Conte took the loss and made nine saves before being replaced by Andre Keire who made nine saves. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
