California Titans 14U uses shootout to best Pursuit of Excellence 14U, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as California Titans 14U defeated Pursuit of Excellence 14U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Pursuit of Excellence 14U got shootout goals from Brody Ryan and Nowel Maarhuis. In addition to the clincher, California Titans 14U got shootout goals from Callum McCleery and Daylon Mannon.

California Titans 14U came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. California Titans 14U fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Pursuit of Excellence 14U's Rhatt Eryand at 15:59 in the first period. California Titans 14U knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nicholas Morales at 5:42 in the second period.

California Titans 14U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pursuit of Excellence 14U to score on any of its three power plays.

California Titans 14U was helped by Jake Pisarcik, who had one goal. Pisarcik scored 5:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pursuit of Excellence 14U. Broderic Mast provided the assist. More assists for California Titans 14U came via McCleery, Jeremy Malm, and Bryant Lai, who contributed one a piece.

Pursuit of Excellence 14U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four California Titans 14U power plays. Pursuit of Excellence 14U could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Pursuit of Excellence 14U puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Pursuit of Excellence 14U forced California Titans 14U goalie Kristian Rogers to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Pursuit of Excellence 14U was helped by Jarek Schultz, who grabbed one goal. Schultz scored 9:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pursuit of Excellence 14U. Bryson Cecconi assisted on the tally. In addition, Pursuit of Excellence 14U received assists from Lucas Gaudet and Alec Zawatsky, who each chipped in one.

Rogers recorded 36 saves for California Titans 14U. California Titans 14U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pursuit of Excellence 14U's Ethan White-Liceaga stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Pursuit of Excellence 14U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
