Farmingdale State blows out Southern Connecticut, 7-2

The Farmingdale State Rams were firing on all cylinders against the Southern Connecticut Owls, and when the final buzzer sounded Rams emerged with a 7-2 win.

Farmingdale State was paced by Jack Radin, who registered one goal and one assist. Radin scored 16:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Farmingdale State. Edward Grunwald assisted on the tally.

The Rams put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Southern Connecticut to score on any of its three power plays. The Owls were unable to stop Farmingdale State from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rams eventually piled up 54 shots on goal.

Farmingdale State also had goals scored by Justin Von Wieding, who had two and Kyle Becker, Matthew Kelerchain, Michael Gonzalez, and Matthew Ginsberg, who scored one goal each. More assists for Farmingdale State came via Danato Carbone, Alex Conover, Paul Delluomo, Michael Leprine, and Joseph Petrizzo, who contributed one a piece.

Southern Connecticut's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Farmingdale State power plays. The Owls' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Southern Connecticut finished with 20 penalty minutes. The Owls got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Farmingdale State's Austin Liddycoat stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Rams incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Shayne OBrien recorded 47 saves for Southern Connecticut.
