Fairfield University falls to Farmingdale State in overtime, 6-5 (OT)The Rinks at Shelton Sat, Oct 05, 2013 Matthew Ginsberg gave the Farmingdale State Rams a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Fairfield University Stags when he scored 8:49 into the extra period. Fairfield University could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Farmingdale State made the score 5-3 on a goal by Michael Leprine at 18:14 in the third period. The Stags got to within 5-4 on a power play goal by Kevin Gavin at 18:47 in the third period. The Rams was paced on offense by Joseph Petrizzo and Ginsberg, who combined for four points. Petrizzo finished with two goals and one assist and Ginsberg also added one goal. Farmingdale State's offense rang up 48 shots on Fairfield University's net. The Rams' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Farmingdale State is averaging 2.5 goals against for the season. Farmingdale State also got points from Leprine, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Farmingdale State also got a goal from Alex Conover as well. More assists for Farmingdale State came via John Mendicino, who had two and Brendan Ciliotta and Paul Delluomo, who contributed one a piece. The Stags were helped by Christian Habberstad, who grabbed two goals. Habberstad scored the first of his two goals at 8:45 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Patrick Gill picked up the assist. Habberstad's next tally made the score 2-2 with 3:53 left in the second period. Jeffrey Gaita provided the assist. Patrick Breed also scored for Fairfield University. In addition, Fairfield University received assists from Christopher Joyce, who had one. Austin Liddycoat made 25 saves for the Rams on 30 shots. Farmingdale State incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brian OLoughlin rejected 42 shots on goal for Fairfield University. The Stags incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
