Farmingdale State uses big second period to beat Suffolk Community College, 8-0

The Farmingdale State Rams scored three goals in the second period to pull away from Suffolk Community College and clinch an 8-0 win.

John Mendicino had two goals and two assists to lead Farmingdale State. Mendicino scored the first of his two goals at 16:24 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Farmingdale State. Danato Carbone provided the assist. Mendicino's next tally made the score 6-0 Farmingdale State with 11:23 left in the third period. The Rams were on a disadvantage when Paul Delluomo went off the ice for roughing. Matthew Johnson picked up the assist.

Farmingdale State's penalty kill excelled, as the Rams gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Farmingdale State stifled Suffolk Community College's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rams kept Suffolk Community College's goalie busy throughout the game, and New Player made 32 saves on 40 shots. Farmingdale State could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Farmingdale State additionally got points from Carbone, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Johnson, who also registered two goals and one assist. Farmingdale State also had goals scored by Matthew Ginsberg, who had one and Jack Radin, who had two. More assists for Farmingdale State came via Edward Grunwald, Scott Brennan, Michael Leprine, Nicholas Giancontieri, and Nicholas Walker, who each chipped in one.

Suffolk Community College found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere eight shots against the Rams' defense.

Austin Liddycoat rejected eight shots on goal for Farmingdale State. The Rams registered three goals on six power play opportunities.
