Alpena Street Cats vanquishes Detroit Fighting Irish in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Alpena Street Cats defeated Detroit Fighting Irish in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout. Detroit Fighting Irish's shootout goal was scored by Ryan Krolikowski. Alpena Street Cats also got a shootout goal fromAndrei Kiselev.

Alpena Street Cats came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Alpena Street Cats fell behind 4-3 after a power play goal by Detroit Fighting Irish's James Smith at 18:05 in the third period. Alpena Street Cats knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Konstantin Khramov at 19:39 in the third period.

Alpena Street Cats was sparked by Garret Bailey, who tallied one goal. Bailey scored 2:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alpena Street Cats.

Alpena Street Cats also had goals scored by Egor Yaragin and Vladislav Khasanov, who each put in one. More assists for Alpena Street Cats came via Edgar Kharlamov, who had two and Kiselev, Georgy AksenovNicholas Hartmann, and Savelii Skurikhin, who contributed one each.

Detroit Fighting Irish forced Alpena Street Cats' netminders to work without much rest, taking 39 shots and forcing 35 saves. Aleksandr Shishkin made 19 stops and Keegan McGrawmade 16. Detroit Fighting Irish excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Detroit Fighting Irish's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Detroit Fighting Irish was led by Jarrad Vroman, who racked up two goals. Vroman scored the first of his two goals at 11:30 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Detroit Fighting Irish. Anthony Wojciechowski picked up the assist. Vroman's next tally made the score 3-3 with 16:53 left in the third period. Chadwick Cobb assisted on the tally. Detroit Fighting Irish additionally got points from Cobb, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Detroit Fighting Irish received assists from Ryan Brown, who had two and Richie Pinkowski and Robert Danyo, who each chipped in one.

Alpena Street Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Detroit Fighting Irish took out John Slavik after he had made nine saves and installed Tyler Skulley in goal, where he finished with 12 saves and the sol. Detroit Fighting Irish incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
