Murphy's big game bests Alpena Street Cats in 8-4 Soo Firehawks win

Soo Firehawks' Nicholas Murphy had a big offensive game, scoring four goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-4 win over Alpena Street Cats.

Murphy's first goal came 14:44 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:25 into the third, at 11:05 into the third, and at 15:21 into the third.

Soo Firehawks forced Alpena Street Cats' goaltenders to work in net, ripping 31 shots and forcing 23 saves. Aleksandr Shishkin made 22 stops and Keegan McGraw made one. Soo Firehawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Soo Firehawks also got points from Connor McNary, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Justin Garton, who also registered one goal and two assists. Kevin Killips also scored for Soo Firehawks. Other players who recorded assists for Soo Firehawks were Matthew Majic and Ryan Marshall, who contributed one a piece and Andrew Holder, Steven Smoltz, and Tyler Jones, who each chipped in two.

Alpena Street Cats was helped by Nicholas Hartmann, who grabbed one goal. Hartmann scored 12:13 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Savelii Skurikhin assisted on the tally. Alpena Street Cats additionally got points from Egor Yaragin, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Alpena Street Cats included Andrei Kiselev and Edgar Kharlamov, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alpena Street Cats received assists from Georgy Aksenov, Andrei Yanovich, and Vladimir Mokrousov, who contributed one a piece.

Anthony Benvenuti made 24 saves for Soo Firehawks on 28 shots. Soo Firehawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors and had no power play opportunities. Alpena Street Cats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
