Alpena Street Cats' comeback falls short, Detroit Fighting Irish wins 6-5

Detroit Fighting Irish came close to giving away a four-goal lead to Alpena Street Cats, but did just enough to escape with a 6-5 victory.

Detroit Fighting Irish led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Detroit Fighting Irish's Ryan Brown's scored at 2:14 in the third period to put Detroit Fighting Irish up 6-2.

Detroit Fighting Irish made Alpena Street Cats' goaltenders to work all game long, firing 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Aleksandr Shishkin made 26 stops and Keegan McGraw made 10. Detroit Fighting Irish's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Alpena Street Cats power plays.

Detroit Fighting Irish was helped by Ryan Santo, who finished with two goals and two assists. Santo scored the first of his two goals at 12:01 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Santo's next tally made the score 3-2 Detroit Fighting Irish with 7:21 left in the second period. Detroit Fighting Irish also got points from Brown, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Joshua Arnold, who also registered one goal and one assist. Detroit Fighting Irish also had goals scored by Ryan Krolikowski, Ken Winter, and Robert Danyo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Detroit Fighting Irish received assists from James Smith, who had three and Robert Speer and Jarrad Vroman, who contributed one a piece.

The defensemen of Alpena Street Cats were also effective in Detroit Fighting Irish's zone, and came away with two goals.

Alpena Street Cats was led by Andrei Kiselev, who grabbed two goals and two assists. Kiselev scored the first of his two goals short handed at 8:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alpena Street Cats. A slashing call on Vladimir Mokrousov put Alpena Street Cats on the penalty kill. Anton Shtykov picked up the assist. Kiselev's next tally short handed made the score 7-5 Detroit Fighting Irish with 2:48 left in the third period. Egor Yaragin provided the assist. Alpena Street Cats additionally got points from Shtykov, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Savelii Skurikhin, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Konstantin Khramov also scored for Alpena Street Cats. Other players who recorded assists for Alpena Street Cats were Edgar Kharlamov and Garret Bailey, who each chipped in one.

John Slavik made 10 saves for Detroit Fighting Irish on 15 shots. Detroit Fighting Irish incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alpena Street Cats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
