Soo Firehawks pulls away in second, rolls over Berkley Bruins, 9-2

Berkley Bruins allowed Soo Firehawks to net three goals during the second period and fell, 9-2.

Soo Firehawks got the win on the strength of a great game by Andrew Holder, who had two goals and two assists. Holder scored the first of his two goals at 2:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Soo Firehawks. Justin Garton provided the assist. Holder's next tally made the score 8-2 Soo Firehawks with 1:30 left in the third period. Cody Anderson assisted on the tally.

Soo Firehawks pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 31 penalty minutes.

Soo Firehawks kept Berkley Bruins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Myers made 43 saves on 52 shots. Soo Firehawks surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Soo Firehawks has scored at the pace of 5.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Soo Firehawks additionally got points from Garton, who also had one goal and two assists, Anderson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Nick Papandrea, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Soo Firehawks included Connor McNary, Trevor McRorie, Ryan Marshall, and Dakota Boissoneau, who each put in one. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Kevin Killips, Brandon Hansen, Anthony Laaksonen, James Goudreau, Nate Fitzpatrick, Kyle Tangie, and Quinton Myotte, who contributed one a piece.

Berkley Bruins stifled Soo Firehawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Berkley Bruins forced Soo Firehawks goalie Hansen to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Berkley Bruins was led by Adam Jonak, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Jonak scored 15:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zachary Cruz provided the assist.
