Traverse City Hounds survives Soo Firehawks comeback, wins 5-3Big Bear Ice Arena Fri, Dec 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Soo Firehawks tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Traverse City Hounds held on for a 5-3 victory. A goal by Jacob Gillis put Traverse City Hounds up 5-2 in the third period, but Soo Firehawks pulled to within two on Calder Ashton's tally 18:05 into the third period. Scott Luca was all over the ice for Traverse City Hounds, as he had two goals in the win. Luca's tallies came on the power play at 14:42 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Traverse City Hounds and 16:26 into the second to make the score 4-2 Traverse City Hounds. Traverse City Hounds' penalty kill unit could not stop Soo Firehawks' power play, which converted on three of four opportunities. More assists for Traverse City Hounds came via Clayton Dowlan, Kevin Miloser, Patrick Rogowski, and Cam Fisher, who each chipped in one and Adam Jonak, Premysl Synek, and Kenneth Simmons Jr, who contributed two a piece. Soo Firehawks was held below its usual level of production. Soo Firehawks puts an average of 5.4 pucks into the net per game. Soo Firehawks' offense rang up 37 shots on Traverse City Hounds' net. David Krejcik made 34 saves for Traverse City Hounds on 37 shots. Traverse City Hounds totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Brandon Hansen rejected 24 shots on goal for Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
