Clouston's hat trick boosts Berkley Bruins over Michigan Ice Dogs, 10-6

Michigan Ice Dogs could not stop Berkley Bruins' Vaughn Clouston, who tallied a hat trick in a 10-6 win.

Clouston notched his first tally 19:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:22 into the second and at 15:57 into the second.

Berkley Bruins was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and three majors for 49 minutes in penalty time. Berkley Bruins surpassed its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Berkley Bruins forced Michigan Ice Dogs' goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 42 shots and forcing 32 saves. Anthony Veresan made 18 stops and Jacob Dugan made 14. Berkley Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Michigan Ice Dogs to score on any of its four power plays. Berkley Bruins surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Berkley Bruins has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Berkley Bruins also got points from Shane Zigman, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Evan Wilson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Grant McCormack, who also had one goal and one assist. Berkley Bruins also got a goal from Colton James as well. More assists for Berkley Bruins came via Austin Wilson, who had three, Timothy Muhsman, who had four, and Alfonso (AJ) DiMercurio and Austin Postek, who contributed one a piece.

The Michigan Ice Dogs penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and three majors for 71 minutes in penalty time. Michigan Ice Dogs had been averaging 34.0 minutes in penalties per game. Berkley Bruins was unable to stop Michigan Ice Dogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Michigan Ice Dogs eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Logan Bennett, who registered two goals and one assist. Bennett scored the first of his two goals at 2:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan Ice Dogs. James Tuljus assisted on the tally. Bennett's next tally made the score 9-7 Berkley Bruins with 2:57 left in the third period. A hooking call on Cameron Kucharski put Michigan Ice Dogs on the penalty kill. Hunter Ledgerwood picked up the assist. Michigan Ice Dogs additionally got points from Ledgerwood, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Michigan Ice Dogs also had goals scored by Michael Ryan, Cory Markovich, Matthew Hartford, and Kerry Cummings, who each put in one. In addition, Michigan Ice Dogs received assists from Tyler Textor, who had two and Drew Hull and Steven Shariak, who each chipped in one.

Reed Williams rejected 30 shots on goal for Berkley Bruins. Berkley Bruins registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. Berkley Bruins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tristan Cruz was ejected from the game. For Michigan Ice Dogs, Shariak was ejected from the game.
