Detroit Fighting Irish holds on for 4-3 win against Bloomington Jr Blaze

Bloomington Jr Blaze tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Detroit Fighting Irish held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Christian Ramage put Detroit Fighting Irish up 4-2 in the second period, but Bloomington Jr Blaze pulled to within one on Jorey Skelton's tally 7:46 into the third period.

Detroit Fighting Irish's penalty kill excelled, as Detroit Fighting Irish gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Detroit Fighting Irish forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Detroit Fighting Irish surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Detroit Fighting Irish stifled Bloomington Jr Blaze's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Bloomington Jr Blaze was unable to stop Detroit Fighting Irish from sending pucks towards the net, and Detroit Fighting Irish eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Detroit Fighting Irish also got a goal from Nolan Jakrzewski as well. More assists for Detroit Fighting Irish came via Robert Speer, Ryan Krolikowski, Kyle Cobb, Ken Winter, Jarrad Vroman, and Chadwick Cobb, who each chipped in one.

The Bloomington Jr Blaze penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Bloomington Jr Blaze had been spending in the box.

Bloomington Jr Blaze was helped by Dylan Farmer, who had one goal. Farmer scored 17:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tanner Vallon picked up the assist. Garret Maged also scored for Bloomington Jr Blaze. In addition, Bloomington Jr Blaze received assists from Micah Young, who had one.

Detroit Fighting Irish's Kent Nusbaum stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Detroit Fighting Irish registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Cameron Lerner recorded 35 saves for Bloomington Jr Blaze.
