Alpena Street Cats outlasts Bloomington Jr Blaze, 4-2

The game between Alpena Street Cats and Bloomington Jr Blaze was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Alpena Street Cats emerged with a 4-2 win.

Alpena Street Cats gained the winning advantage on a goal by Andrei Yanovich 7:57 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Alpena Street Cats got the win with help from a great game by Vladislav Khasanov, who had one goal and two assists. Khasanov scored 19:48 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Alpena Street Cats. Vladislav Graevski assisted on the tally.

Alpena Street Cats pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Alpena Street Cats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bloomington Jr Blaze to score on any of its nine power plays. Alpena Street Cats did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Alpena Street Cats averages 6.7 goals per game. Alpena Street Cats forced Bloomington Jr Blaze goalie Cameron Lerner to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Sergey Deev also scored for Alpena Street Cats. In addition, Alpena Street Cats received assists from Vladimir Mokrousov, who had one and Savelii Skurikhin, who had three.

Bloomington Jr Blaze was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Bloomington Jr Blaze surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Bloomington Jr Blaze kept Alpena Street Cats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Graevski made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Bloomington Jr Blaze was helped by Steven Smoltz, who registered one goal. Smoltz scored 17:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Bloomington Jr Blaze. Dylan Farmer picked up the assist. Bloomington Jr Blaze also got a goal from Jorey Skelton as well. More assists for Bloomington Jr Blaze came via John Urmetz, who had two.

Alpena Street Cats registered two goals on 10 power play opportunities. Lerner rejected 42 shots on goal for Bloomington Jr Blaze. Bloomington Jr Blaze ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Garret Maged was ejected from the game.
