STONEY CREEK uses early goal to top BRAMPTON, 3-1

Sarah Quaranta (A)home) scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and STONEY CREEK held off the challenges of BRAMPTON in a tough 3-1 win.

STONEY CREEK took over the lead for good with a goal by Quaranta (A)home) at 10:01 in the first period. Kristin ONeill provided the assist.

Rachel Smith (PU) had a great game for STONEY CREEK, netting two goals. Smith (PU)'s tallies came at 2:14 into the second period to make the score 2-0 STONEY CREEK and 12:45 into the third to make the score 3-1 STONEY CREEK.

STONEY CREEK's penalty kill excelled, as STONEY CREEK gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

STONEY CREEK had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 11 chances. STONEY CREEK's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as STONEY CREEK finished with 16 penalty minutes.

In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Sarah Olsen and Madison Brown (A)away), who each chipped in one.

BRAMPTON was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

BRAMPTON was led by Chelsea Ball, who scored the team's only goal. Ball scored 6:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 STONEY CREEK. Christina Ieradi assisted on the tally.

Taylor Cook made 22 saves for STONEY CREEK on 23 shots. Katie Bidulka rejected 23 shots on goal for BRAMPTON.
