LEASIDE outlasts BLUEWATER, 3-2Leaside Arena Sun, Jan 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, LEASIDE escaped with a 3-2 victory over BLUEWATER. LEASIDE gained the winning advantage on a goal by Katriona McNeilly 10:01 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. LEASIDE was paced by McNeilly, who had one goal. LEASIDE managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. LEASIDE finished below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game. LEASIDE also got points from Sarah McGilvray, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. LEASIDE also got a goal from Karli Sullivan as well. Other players who recorded assists for LEASIDE were Mariah Hinds (PU), Kaelyn Johnson (PU), Kimberly Brown (PU), and Miranda VonHanke, who each chipped in one. BLUEWATER's offense rang up 36 shots on LEASIDE's net. The defensemen of BLUEWATER were also effective in LEASIDE's zone, and came away with two goals. BLUEWATER was helped by Katherine Bailey, who grabbed one goal. Bailey scored 3:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 BLUEWATER. Lauren Lefler picked up the assist. Kaila Pinkney also scored for BLUEWATER. In addition, BLUEWATER received assists from Bradey Couwenberg and Morgan McCann, who contributed one a piece. LEASIDE's Karly Stratos stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that she faced. LEASIDE registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Molly Jenkins rejected 23 shots on goal for BLUEWATER. BLUEWATER ended with no penalties and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
