STONEY CREEK stifles BLUEWATER's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

BLUEWATER almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but STONEY CREEK managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

STONEY CREEK led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when STONEY CREEK's Sarah Hine (PU)'s scored at 13:56 in the first period to put STONEY CREEK up 3-0.

STONEY CREEK was helped by Sarah Quaranta (A)home), who tallied one goal and one assist. Quaranta (A)home) scored 6:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 STONEY CREEK. Melissa Millar provided the assist. STONEY CREEK also got points from Madison Field (A)home), who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kristin ONeill also scored for STONEY CREEK. In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Sarah Olsen and Sara Habal, who each chipped in one.

BLUEWATER's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three STONEY CREEK power plays. BLUEWATER forced STONEY CREEK goalie Sarah McDonnell to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

BLUEWATER was helped by Abby Dortmans, who grabbed one goal. Dortmans scored 15:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 STONEY CREEK. Karley Campbell picked up the assist. BLUEWATER also got a goal from Lauren Lefler as well. More assists for BLUEWATER came via Morgan McCann, Kaila Pinkney, and Taylor Philip, who contributed one a piece.

Sarah McDonnell made 40 saves for STONEY CREEK on 42 shots. STONEY CREEK ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. STONEY CREEK ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Field (A)home) was ejected from the game. BLUEWATER's starting goalie, Carley Molnar, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before she was taken out in favor of Molly Jenkins, who stopped two shots. BLUEWATER incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
